Impression, Malta #1
Inspired by Monet’s “Impression, sunrise”, the two online chamber concerts link works from the Impressionist period with contemporary Maltese composers performed by Malta Philharmonic Orchestra Principals Rebecca Hall, Britt Arend and Ákos Kertesz.
In the first evening, Debussy’s masterpiece “Syrinx” is featured with its spiritual heir, Joseph Vella’s “Pan Revisited” in a poignant re-telling of the Greek legend of love and loss. A reinvention of Fauré’s works is presented together with a Jongen’s trio for flute, cello and harp evoking an atmospheric mood.
