Conversation with Tommy Wa on the many roles artists, the art community, and society has had to assume in these times.
Tommy WÁ is a free-spirited artist based in Ghana with music and visual storytelling as his core mediums. Oluwatomiwa Oyakhilome Suleiman was born to a multicultural family in the city of Ibadan, Nigeria, and later spent most of his teens living in the federal capital (Abuja). To attain a Bachelor's degree in Political Studies and Sociology, he moved to Ghana in 2013, a country graceful enough for the grooming of an artistic interest that has been perceived by a good many to be authentic in expression. All of which accumulated to a perception of his realities, through which he has been able to manifestly compose music and capture the familiar, conveying messages about life, peace, youth, happiness, spiritual consciousness, love, and critical thinking, with a graceful hope that his audience receives them with new eyes, ears, hearts, and minds.
