Nepantlas: Infrastructures for World-building #01
On July 30, Akademie Schloss Solitude launches the event series Napantlas: infrastructures for world-building Curated by Daphne Dragona, the program focuses on projects that introduce social and technological infrastructures based on relations of care, respect, and interdependence. The Nahuatl word nepantla, which lends its title to the event, is a reference to the work of cultural theorist/feminist and queer studies scholar Gloria E. Anzaldúa; nepantlas operates as a bridge and allows scenarios to merge, perspectives to shift, and affective bonds to be made. In the desire to explore the possibilities of such spaces in a currently fragmented world struck by the corona crisis, the series features online talks and workshops and will discuss examples of technologies that create relations within and among communities, temporalities, and cultures.
With a short intro on the person of Pedro Oliveira, there will be examples of his own research and artistic work and how these are connected to the Nepantla idea of Gloria Anzaldúas. Followed by a question and answer session.
