REOPENING MUSEUMS – EUROPEAN AND SOUTH AMERICAN PERSPECTIVES
September 2, 2020, marks two years since the tragedy of the devastating fire at the Museu Nacional/UFRJ in Rio de Janeiro. On this occasion, a digital panel discussion will focus on the risks and opportunities of reopening museum during the pandemic.
The panel will be attended by Alexander Kellner (Director Museu Nacional/UFRJ), Gabriela Rangel (Director Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires), Barbara Plankensteiner (Director Museum am Rothenbaum Hamburg) and Johannes Vogel (Director Natural History Museum Berlin). The participants and guests of the panel discussion will be welcomed by Minister of State Michelle Müntefering for the German Federal Foreign Office and Secretary General Johannes Ebert for the Goethe-Institut.
The event, which will be streamed live on the Goethe-Institut’s central YouTube channel, will take place from 15:00 to 16:30 (CET) / 10:00 to 11:30 (BRT) in English and simultaneously translated into Portuguese. We would be very pleased if you would join in and take part in the discussion in the live chat.
