Your homeland is our nightmare
Streamed Discussion (available from 7 pm on with Fatma Aydemir, Max Czollek, Mithu Sanyal
In early 2019, Fatma Aydemir and Hengameh Yaghoobifarah published the anthology “Eure Heimat ist unser Albtraum” (Your homeland is our nightmare) on the occasion of the first anniversary of the German 'Heimatministerium'. In this anthology, 14 authors argue about the dangers of normalizing nationalist ideas to which the concept of “Heimat” belongs in their opinion. They hold up to us a mirror of a Germany, as a country that sees itself as a prime example of a democractic state, but that at the same time considers a part of its inhabitants as “different” and fails to protect or accept them.
The three contributing authors, Fatma Aydemir, Max Czollek and Mithu Sanyal, have been invited to discuss their ideas together with the Dutch-Belgian author and presentor of the evening Marc Reugebrink.
The discussion will be recorded in the Literaturhaus Berlin and in Passa Porta Brussels. It will be accesible via an online stream.
A cooperation between Goethe-Institut Belgien, Literaturhaus Berlin, Passa Porta, International House of Literature and Sigrid Bousset (Flagey).
